My time running a marketing department for a large regional real estate company was filled with the frustration of trying to sell the "Gene Kelly" side of the equation. Agents wanted to stick to what they thought worked. The problem was, the world was changing around them and they didn't even see it. I agree that you need to balance what you do and even better, tailor it to the audience you are dealing with.
